Dr. Prateek Kalia from Department of Business Management, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, Brno spent two intensive weeks (11-24 May 2025) at Swansea University’s Bay Campus. He was hosted by Professor Denis Dennehy.
During his stay he attended the Postgraduate Research Conference organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Swansea University on 12 May 2025, where high-calibre poster exhibitions and oral presentations by doctoral researchers showcased the faculty’s scholarly strength. On 15 May Dr. Kalia delivered a hands-on workshop on NVivo and thematic analysis for the Doctor of Business Administration cohort, equipping participants with advanced qualitative research techniques. On 20 May he attended Regional Project Showcase of university projects that contribute directly to the Swansea Bay City Region, followed by strategic discussions with Dafydd Cotterell and Daniele Doneddu. On 22 May at the School of Management Research Forum, Dr. Kalia presented recent findings on Cellulographics alongside marketing academics Daniel Rees, Alessandro Graciotti, Elvira Ismagilova, and Jishnu Bhattacharyya, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and potential joint publications.
This visit was made possible through ECON MUNI’s Global Staff Mobility programme. The activities undertaken have established a robust platform for future collaborative research and teaching, underscoring Masaryk University’s commitment to international partnership and regional impact.
When we reach for a pack of chicken in the supermarket, we rarely know how the animal was actually raised. Was it crammed into a large industrial barn without natural light? Did it have access to outdoor space and the ability to express natural behaviours? Or did it grow so quickly that its weight caused its own bones to break?
Can simple visual cues influence our everyday decisions? At the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Masaryk University, we explored whether motivational posters and stickers could encourage students and staff to choose the stairs more often instead of the elevator.
